- Use Safety Gates to prevent falls down stairs and to keep children from dangerous or undesired areas
- Use Safety Gates that children cannot dislodge easily, but adults can open and close without difficulty
- Corner and Edge Bumpers help prevent injuries from falls against sharp edges of furniture and fireplaces
- Electrical Outlet Covers and Plates can help to prevent serious shock or possible electrocution
- Be sure Outlet Covers cannot be easily removed by a child, and that they are large enough to not be a choking hazard
- Be sure Door Knob Covers are sturdy enough not to break, but allow a door to be opened quickly enough by an adult in an emergency

- Self-Closing sliding glass doors and sliding glass doors with locks that must be re-secured after each use are often not enough barrier for swimming pools
- Anti-Scald Devices for faucets and shower heads can set your water temperature at 120◦ to help prevent burns from hot wate
- Carbon Monoxide Detectors, properly placed, can assist in preventing CO poisoning
- Cut window blind cords. Use safety tassels and Inner Cord Stops to help prevent strangling
